I led the product design of our conversational AI Agent.

Different forms for different contexts

People have strong feelings about AI.  We discovered that using a human representation in the marketing and onboarding was helpful.  But in the meeting, users want a more abstracted entity that was not as prominent.

Interactions across voice, video, chat


The agent needed to communicate across a wide range of mediums to accomodate marketing assets, product configuration and the in meeting experience.

Mapping trends in emerging AI presentation

During early research I mapped out the emerging themes being used to represent AI entities.  Prominent themes included non human/abstract shapes, realistic robots and cartoon realism

Building Personas with AI

While developing tone and voice guidelines, I used Gemini and OpenAI to create a series of AI personas based on established cinema and gaming characters.

Testing Variations



Having human faces performed best in upper funnel efforts while a subdued abstract entity worked better in the meeting.

‍Ultimately the use of the image really depended on the context.
